LAUC Santa Barbara
Executive Board meeting
February 12, 1996
Present: Patrick Dawson, Andrea Duda, Adan Griego, Catherine Nelson,
Rosemary Meszaros, Beverly Ryan, Lucia Snowhill.
1. Minutes of the last meeting were approved.
2. Andrea Duda (Chair) suggested a LAUC-SB home page for Infosurf.
Lucia, Snowhill, Sylvia Curtis and Beverly Ryan have agreed to
work on it.
3. CAAR reported no activity (Griego)
4. CAP (Nelson)
Detrice Bankhead has requested lists of names for review
committees. CAP will provide the list. 18 people are being reviewed.
5 committees will be needed with at least 3 people on each.
Committees will be formed in March.
Catherine suggested that reviews not involving merit or promotion
have the option of skipping the committee review and ending with the
supervisors review. Any change in procedure must conform to the APM and
be run by the Committee on Committees, Rules, and Jurisdiction.
5. CPD (Dawson)
Two research proposals were submitted, one from Berkeley and
one from Davis. The committee has met once to discuss them.
Results will be announced later.
Most of this years traveling is over with. Any funds left
over will be rolled over to next year.
6. Representation of the local and statewide cultural diversity
committees was discussed. It was recommended that the chair of
the local committee be the representative to the statewide committee,
or, the LAUC representative for the statewide committee should
be on the local committee. The statewide committee is a LAUC
committee, the local committee is a library administrative committee.
This would improve the communication and sharing of information between
the two groups.
7. Programming (Meszaros)
Rosemary brought us up to date on the planning for the
Untangling the Web conference. Information and a registration
form (to be printed and mailed with payment) are on the web.
Registration fees were raised to cover equipment costs and honoraria.
UCSB librarians who volunteer will have their conference fees waived.
Payments depends on how many register. It was suggested that no
honoraria be offered next year.
Rosemary will be looking for a speaker for March. Probably
someone local.
8. A Membership meeting is planned for February 27 at 3:00. There
will be committee reports from representatives to LAUC and senate
committees, and Joe Boisse been invited to attend.
