LAUC-SB Executive Committee Meeting, March 18, 1999

The meeting convened at 10:30 a.m.





Agenda:





1. LAUC Statewide Bylaws  (Yolanda Blue)





Y. Blue, the LAUC-SB committee member to the LAUC Committee on Committee


Rules And Jurisdiction reported on the Committee's charges this year. 


Specifically, one of the charges would require each LAUC division to review


their Bylaws to assure that they comply with the Bylaws in light of the new


statewide library advisory structure implemented on July 1, 1998.  The 


committee felt that our local Bylaws comply the current advisory structure, 


but will raised the issue at the business meeting March 19.





The committee decided to include in the statewide Bylaws the 


specific names of existing standing committees and to make future


name changes in the Bylaws when appropriate.  The committee 


arrived at this decision because of the concerns they raised about


the potential problems that might occur if the actual names of the


committees are not part specified in the Bylaws.  This issue will be brought


up for comment at our meeting March 19.





Action:  The LAUC-Exec Committee will report on their decision in the Next 


business meeting.








2. Guidelines for LAUC webpages  (S. DeDecker)





S. Dedecker distributed the guidelines for the LAUC statewide and 


division webpages.  The Executive Committee made several suggestions to the


guideline.  A central source for templates and standard LAUC graphics would


be helpful for librarians.  While attachments with email may be unavoidable,


having the document in the text version sent, but not as an attachment would


avoid problems with software incompatibility.  This issue also will be raised


at the membership meeting March 19.
