LAUC-SB Meeting

The Fall quarter LAUC SB membership meeting is being planned for Nov. 8, 2002 (Mary Cheadle). The tentative agenda (see 10/11 email) was reviewed. The Program Committee was added to the agenda of committees that would be reporting. Reports should emphasize significant issues that need to be addressed rather than the more mundane standard operating procedures. Sarah Pritchard will present for the last 45 minutes of the meeting.

Other-Misc. Chat/New Business During Diversion from Agenda

LAUC-SB and the Admin. Group will be hosting a welcome event or new librarians.

Web page: Confusion regarding arrangement and who is responsible for what. Sherri and Eunice will review the arrangement and content and report back with recommendations. All agreed, Web maintenance responsibilities, once determined, will need to be written into the bylaws.

LAUC-SB Archive: Archived in Special Collections. Attention needs to be given to supplying documents to the archive. Documents may come from the Web site or elsewhere. It wasn't determined what type of documents should be submitted or by who.

LAUC Executive Board Meeting Conference Call Agenda (see Oct. 15 email)

Mary will be out of town for the LAUC Executive Board Meeting conference call on Nov. 1, 2002, 10am-12pm. Cathy Chiu, president elect, will sit in for Mary.

Esther Grassian has asked divisions to prioritize their interests for Spring Assembly topics/speakers. Issues of most importance to the LAUC-SB Executive Board include 1) Cooperative collecting and de-selecting at UC campus libraries 2) Intellectual freedom/privacy-related issues and 3) research related issues, including increased support for research-related needs, especially release time.

Recommended reading prior to the meeting includes the composition, terms and charges of the LAUC Il Task Force & HOPS IL All Campus Group and the SOPAG Access Integration Report.
