LAUC Santa Barbara Executive Board Meeting
January 8, 1999

Meeting convened at 10:00 am

Agenda:





1. LAUC-SB Handbook



	The committee raised the idea of developing a LAUC-SB handbook

for LAUC members, especially for new librarians.  All agreed that this 

would be an excellent introduction for new people to the LAUC organization 

and to the campus community at large. While there was consensus for the 

creation of the handbook, a meeting should be initiated to discuss its 

contents.





2. LAUC-Statewide Proposal 



	Kari Lucas, LAUC president, has asked that the proposal to add 

steps to the librarian salary scales be an agenda item at the UCOL meeting 

in January 15 S. DeDecker will write a letter to Bruce Tiffney, Chair of 

the Senate Library Committee for his support.  The letter would also 

request that B. Tiffney speak with the Executive Vice Chancellor Ilene 

Nagel to gain her support for the proposal.





3. CAP (L. Korenic)



	There will be 18 reviews this year.  L. Korenic will find out if 

they will be signed by S. Awramik or by the new University Librarian who will

arrive in April.





4. CAAR  (S. Curtis)



	Dates have been set for the Humanities Librarian position 

interviews: January 19, 22, February 5, 8.  S. Curtis will meet with 

D. Bankhead to ask some procedural questions.  The Head of Access Services 

advertisement end December 15.  S. Edgerton will chair the committee.





5. CPD  (N. Llamas)



The second call for research proposals ends on January 15.





6. Program Committee  (J. Martorana)



	EVC Ilene Nagel will meet with LAUC-SB on February 18 at 10:00 a.m. 

At the February business meeting, we should ask LAUC members for questions 

they would like sent to her in advance.  In March, there will be a joint \

LAUC/ Library Instructional Services Committee (LISC) program to bring 

librarians to Instructional Development.  J. Martorana is holding a series 

of meetings to write objectives for the library long range plan.  Work on 

the spring conference is in progress.





7. University Librarian  (S. DeDecker)



S. Pritchard will be coming to campus Friday 12 and sometime in March.



Action:  S. DeDecker will ask S. Pritchard to meet with the librarians in

February.
