positions. EVC Nagel clarified B. Kresin's position. He reports to Cecily

Johns in the library.

Beverlee French will be in the library on November 18 to give an update and

presentation of CDL and the Patron Initiated Request project (PIR). Possible

meetings will be scheduled for LAUC, LEC, and various interest groups,

including faculty. These presentations will also have Q/A period.

Action: S. Curtis will contact B. French and the Program Committee will

develop the schedule ASAP.

3. University Librarian Search

S. DeDecker and L. Korenic gave update of the UL search. The library tour

for the candidates will be expanded to 1 hour and 30 minutes. December

3 - 4 will be the date for the last candidate.

4. New Library program series

D. Bankhead plans to create a library series program about once a month that

will have some focus or relevancy to the library profession and its future.

It was suggested that the librarians could get the series started with their

own presentations. Then guest speakers could be invited in the future.

5. Library Safety

Students have expressed concern for their safety in the library. Some of

the ways this concern could be addressed are:

Better lighting

Improve visibility of security in various parts of the library by having

them wear clearly marked T-shirts. For their own safety advise student

workers not to personally intercede when incidents occur, but to notify

security.

Have a Campus Security Officer (CSO) stationed in the library during "dead

week" to be available for escorting.

Action: LEC will check on these concerns J. Vasi

Meeting adjourned, 11:00 am
