LAUC Santa Barbara
Executive Board Meeting
April 2, 1997
Present: Rosemary Meszaros (chair), Sharon Bullard, Patrick Dawson, Chuck
Huber, Catherine Nelson, Beverly Ryan Elections A local nominating committee will be formed by Patrick Dawson,
vice-chair/chair elect. Local and statewide elections will be combined
into one ballot. The ballot needs to go out to LAUC members by the first
week in June. Election day is June 20. Positions to be filled are vice-chair/chair elect, secretary, and
the chairs of CPD, CAP, and CAAR. Universe at your Fingertips Conference The sessions and rooms have been set up. Registrations are coming in.
47 were received as of last week. LAUC-SB Archives The archives have been brought up to date. Everything is in boxes,
shelved in Special Collections. CAP update 3 committees have been formed to review 10 packets. The review
process is on schedule. CAAR update An offer will be made soon for the curator of music position. The head of cataloging, Lynne Hayman, starts on April 7. A LAUC
lunch with Lynne at the faculty club will be planned after she arrives. CPD update Travel money is being spent quickly. The statewide committee is looking at submissions from the second
call for research proposals. None were submitted from this campus. Spring Assembly, UCLA, May 9 Rosemary Meszaros, Lucia Snowhill, Yolanda Blue and Patrick Dawson
will go. The executive board then spent considerable time discussing the draft
review document from the Library Review Committee and the report
of the External Review Panel. Comments need to be submitted to Mike Goodchild, Chair of the Library Review
Committee no later than April 30. Comments will focus on the internal review
document. Boards members present divided up the report to draft comments,
which will be compiled and presented to the LAUC membership for comments
at a general membership meeting scheduled for April 18.
