Minutes of the LAUC-SB Executive Committee Meeting
April 30, 2001
Davidson Library, 2nd floor conference room
Present: Sylvia Curtis, Sherry DeDecker, Janet Martorana, Bev Ryan,
and Eunice Schroeder. Carol Gibbens and Andrea Duda sent regrets.
The minutes from the LAUC-SB Executive Board meeting on 9 April 2001
were approved with corrections.
The timetables for the upcoming LAUC-SB election and the statewide LAUC
election were discussed. Bev Ryan reported that a nomination committee
for our local election has been appointed and that nominations are currently
being sought for vice chair/chair elect, secretary, chair of CAP, chair
of CAAR, and vice chair of CPD. The local election will be held on June
8.
Sherry DeDecker (chair, CAAR) reported on three current searches. She
will be chair of the search committee for an English and French literature
librarian and Janet Martorana will chair the search committee for a science
librarian; LAUC-SB slates have been submitted to Detrice Bankhead for both
of these searches. A LAUC-SB slate has also been submitted for the search
for AUL for Systems and Technical Services. Sherry will create
a Web page linked to the CAAR page that will list all LAUC-SB members who
have served on search committees within the past two years; this will help
in selecting slates for future searches.
Sherry also reported that a change in the Bylaws will be proposed that
will establish a term limit for the chair of WOM, which is a subcommittee
of CAAR.
Sylvia Curtis reported from the statewide LAUC Executive Board meeeting
held on 26 April 2001 at UC Irvine. A statewide task force is to be set
up that will review procedures for appointments and terms of LAUC representatives
to the various UL Advisory groups.
Other issues from the Executive Board meeting, as well as Assembly on
27 April 2001, were discussed: (1) participation of the statewide LAUC
president in UL meetings; (2) the search for a CDL UL; and (3) the role
of LAUC in the new environment in light of the new MOU.
It was decided that Sylvia will invite Sarah Pritchard to meet with
the LAUC-SB Executive Board once every two months.
