Citing the Web

Electronic source citations present a variety of problems. The information can and does change from day to day. Equipment/program needs vary, and URLs change. The best you can do is to include as much information about the cite as possible. There are a variety of webpages with citation guidelines. To keep current, do a search using various search engines using search terms such as: citation electronic, citation online, citation internet, or citing sources.

Citing Full-Text Articles Via Databases

Begin with an article citation and add:
[Online]. Available: name of database, URL [Accessed: date].

Example:

Wechsler, Henry, et. al. "College Smoking Policies and Smoking Cessation Programs: Results of a Survey of College Health Center Directors." Journal of American College Health v.49 n.5 (March 2001): 205. [Online]. Available: Expanded Academic ASAP, http://web3.infotrac.galegroup.com/ [Accessed: 5/22/02].
