1. Find the item in Melvyl and verify that UCSB does not own a copy (or if we do, the copy is checked out). Check the box next to the item and choose "Request."
In the example below, the item does not have "UCSB" under "Library."

2. After hitting "Request", you'll see a screen prompting you to enter info about yourself:
If the form shown below does Not display, you probably have some type of popup blocking software enabled on your workstation which prevents the Request window from deploying. You can find more information about popup blocking software at
Your password is the same one you use for Pegasus (which unless you've changed it, is the same as your library card number, and the same information you use for How to Sign-in to Your Account in Pegasus).

3. When you submit, you'll see a confirmation screen:
You must accept copyright restrictions as noted.

4. You should see a confirmation notice. IF you receive an error message saying "You have entered an account number that is not recognized. Please be sure you are using the correct library card/account number for your campus," verify your library card number and PIN (this is the same information you use for How to Sign-in to Your Account in Pegasus). For questions about your library card number or password, contact Circulation Services.
If you have any trouble with Melvyl request, contact the Interlibrary Loan office, located on the first floor opposite the east entrance in room 1510, or call 893-3436.
