The key to using Request with Article databases is "UC-eLinks." (note that "UC-eLinks" and Request are not available in all databases).
1. Find the item in an Article Database (help choosing a database).
For example, you're interested in articles #5 and #7, which you've located using the "BIOSIS Previews" database.

2a. For each article, click on "UC-eLinks".
For #5, from the Journal of Parisitology, note that an electronic copy is immediately available. Request is generally unnecessary.

2b. For #7, from Acta Theriologica, there is no electronic copy. So click on "Check Melvyl..." From the resulting screen, check to see whether UCSB owns a print copy of the journal you need. If not, click "Request."

3. When you click Request, you'll get a form to fill in info about yourself.
If the form shown below does Not display, you probably have some type of popup blocking software enabled on your workstation which prevents the Request window from deploying. You can find more information about popup blocking software at
Your password is the same one you use for Pegasus (which unless you've changed it, is the same as your library card number). If you choose web delivery, you'll receive an electronic copy if possible, which is faster than print.

4. You'll see a confirmation screen listing the article you requested and asking you to accept copyright, which you must do for your request to proceed.

5. IF you receive an error message saying "You have entered an account number that is not recognized. Please be sure you are using the correct library card/account number for your campus," verify your library card number and PIN (this is the same information you use for How to Sign-in to Your Account in Pegasus). For questions about your library card number or password, contact Circulation Services.
If you have any trouble with Article Databases request, contact the Interlibrary Loan office, located on the first floor opposite the east entrance in room 1510, or call 893-3436.
