How to Recall UCSB Library
Materials
When using Pegasus, you may find that the book you are looking for is already checked out to another individual. When looking at the record for the specific item, you will see an indication that it is checked out, and you can see when it's due (see below). With few exceptions, you may Recall the item, which means that whoever has the item checked out must return it to the library (provided they've had it for at least three weeks), where it will be held for you.
To Recall an item:
- Verify that the item is checked out:
- Click on the call number to view the item record: you can now see when the item is due.

Clicking on the call number leads to this screen:

- To the far left of the due date information is a Request link. Click on
this link to begin the request process.

- You will be asked to identify yourself. Enter the 14-digit barcode number from your library or access card in the first box. In the second box, enter your password. Your password will be the same 14-digit number you just entered UNLESS you have previously changed
your password through Your Account on Pegasus
(more info).

- Once you've signed in, another window will open displaying the recall request form. To submit the request, simply click on the SEND button. The system will then verify your eligibility to place this request (community borrowers may not place recalls), and check to see if there is another copy of the
item in the library that you may not have seen, etc.

- When the request has been completed, a message window will display
indicating "Your request has been registered". If the request is unable
to be placed, the message will display the reason. You may talk with
a member of the Circulation Desk staff for further options.

When you're finished with your session, don't forget to click on
Sign-out.
