Researching the Copyright Status of a Work/ Permissions/ Royalties
The Copyright Clearance Center manages permissions and royalties, IF it is determined that permission is necessary.
The following sources may be searched for copyright registration, but they do not
include related documents involving assignment of ownership and other related documents
that may be relevant to an individual search. Consult How to Investigate the Copyright
Status of a Work [above] for further options.
Catalog of Copyright Entries was published from 1891-1982, and records since
1978 are available online. Printed catalogs are divided into parts by class of work
registered. Catalog volumes available at UCSB are:
