UCSB Library Mission and Goals Mission The mission of the University Library is to support the research, teaching and service functions of the University by providing the information resources and services which allow the members of the University community to meet their responsibilities. The University Library also serves as a resource to the local community. Goals The Library has historically provided information resources in support of the University's teaching and research mission. Information technologies are expanding rapidly, and it will be necessary for the Library to expand its information services and the way in which it delivers those services in order to remain the primary campus academic information center. The Library will establish its role as the leader in information services and technologies, taking advantage of technological advances to enhance i nformation services. The philosophy of service of the Library rests on these tenets: (1) it will provide the highest quality of service to its users, and (2) user's needs will be central to the planning and implementation of Library policies and programs.
