MAJOR POPULATION REPORTS and DATA
*  Demographic Yearbook. [Ref HA 17 D4]
Compilation of demographic statistics of the world's nations.  From UN.
*  FAOSTAT  
Statistical database of the Food and Agriculture Organization, includes data on agriculture, nutrition, rural/urban population trends, etc. 
*  FAO Yearbook.  Production. [Ref HD 1421 F56]
FAO's statistical yearbook covering agricultural production by country.
*  Human Development Report. [also at Ref HD 72 H851; latest may be in Reserve Book Service]
Each annual issue is on a development related theme; rear of each issue contains development related statistics. Note that all issues are compiled onto Human Development Report CD-ROM, in Electronic Arcade. From United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). 
*  Human Settlements Statistics
This data, from the UN Centre on Human Settlements, includes population and housing condition statistics. 
blueball   World Development Indicators UCSB! [also, free data last five years]
Best, most comprehensive source for current and recent statistical data on the world's nations. It includes data on more than 500 topics (indicators) about the people, economy, environment, and public finance of 210 nations. The Online version contains time series from 1960 to the present, and data may be exported in a variety of formats (inc. Excel, dbase, and SAS), as well as mapped and charted.
*  International Data Base (U. S. Census)
A "a computerized data bank containing statistical tables of demographic, and socio-economic data for 227 countries and areas of the world." Includes Population Pyramids.
*  International Migration (United Nations Population Division)
Country by country data on migrants, migration, refugees, and viewsof government plicies relating to migration.
*  International Statistical Agencies
Links to the primary government statistical agencies of countries worldwide.  Amount of data available varies widely.
*  Inventory of Population Projects in Developing Countries Around the World. [Ref  HQ 763 I65 1993]

LexisNexis Statistical is an index to published statistical data.  Some entries also include the statistical tables themselves.  It indexes statistics appearing in sources from the U.S. federal government, international governmental organizations, associations, business organizations, commercial publishers, independent researchers, state governments, and university research centers.

Annual Report from the United Nations Population Fund, reports on various aspects of population and human development.
*  UNSTATS: UN Statistics Division Common DatabaseUCSB!
Huge compilation of socioeconomic statistics for the countries of the world. Hundreds of data series for the world's nations. Some data back to 1946. Includes source notes, ability to download to a comma seperated file.
*  World Demographic Estimates and Projections 1950-2025. [Ref HA 155 W64 1988]
Detailed long-term population estimates for countries.
*  World Development Indicators. (World Bank) [Ref HC 59.15 W656 and on CD-ROM in the Government Information Desk]

This annual contains basic statistics on population and related measures, such as fertility, conctrception, and life-expectancy, for the world's nations.

Very similar to above: contains basic statistics on population and related measures, such as fertility, contrarception, and life-expectancy, for the world's nations.
*  World Population Prospects.  [Ref HA 154  W663 2000 v.1-2; some data tables at www.un.org/popin/]
This important 3-volume set contains detailed data on population from 1950 to the present, with projections to 2050.  Volume 1 contains population and basic demographics; volume 2 features detailed sex and age data and projections for each country.
*  World Resources   [Ref HC 10  W67]
This annual contains data for countries on environmental factors related to quality of life.
*  World Urbanization Prospects. [Ref HB 2161 P76; 2001 report at www.un.org/esa/population/unpop.htm
This report focuses on data and issues about urban/rural population, cities, etc.

This publication extracts the answers from a bennial survey of government population policies.  Check shelf for latest edition. See also database of National Population Policies.

EIU Profiles and Reports provide timely analysis and forecasts of the political, economic, social, and business environment in a total of 126 reports about more than 180 countries. They present the political and economic structure of the country, the current political scene, economic policy, domestic economy (covering industry, agriculture, money and finance), foreign trade and payments, and the outlook for 2000-01. Country reports are archived online (web) from 1996 forward.
