The following is the tentative schedule of lectures, exams and so on, for the quarter. It may be altered as circumstances dictate, but should help with planning for the term. The suggested readings listed are intended for the lecture FOLLOWING the date of the reading. You must read the lecture notes for a given session BEFORE coming to class, and do the associated exercise, to be turned in. In-class time will be devoted to discussion and hands-on practice.
Friday, January 11 - Last day to add a class without petition or course approval code; last day for undergraduates to drop without a $3 drop fee.
Reading: Maizell, Chapters 12 and 15; Wiggins, Chapter 9, 10, 11
Take-home Mid-term 1 handed out.
Answers to Mid-term 1 will be made available after the assignments have been turned in.

Friday, January 18 - Last day to add a class without $3 add fee. Last day for undergraduates to change grading options without $3 fee.

Monday, January 28 - Last day to add a class.
Monday, February 4 -- Last day for undergraduates in Colleges of Letters & Science and Engineering to drop classes.
Reading: Maizell, Chapters 6 and 7 (These are LONG chapters!), Wiggins, Chapters 4 and 5 (parts on Chemical Abstracts)

Friday, March 14 -- Last day for graduate students and students in the College of Creative Studies to drop or change grading!
