Research
Services include reference, scheduled tours, training on PEGASUS and the California Digital Library (CDL, which includes the MELVYL catalog), and instruction in the use of various CD-ROM and electronic resources. Twenty InfoStations (library and Internet research services) are available.
Pegasus is UCSB’s online catalog. All cataloged materials in the Arts Library and in the Davidson (Main) Library appear in this catalog. Use Pegasus to locate books, scores, journal titles, sound recordings, electronic resources, and other media owned by the UCSB Libraries. Please note that individual journal articles are not cataloged in Pegasus.
Melvyl is the online union catalog for the libraries of the University of California system, and is part of the California Digital Library. Use Melvyl to locate books, scores, journal titles, sound recordings, electronic resources, and other media owned by any UC library. Please note that individual journal articles are not cataloged in Melvyl. Melvyl can also be used to place interlibrary loan requests for materials not owned by UCSB.
Infosurf, the UCSB Libraries homepage, provides quick access to many online research resources, including journal article databases, fulltext journals and reference books, dissertations, and more. Please also consult the help pages for Art and Architecture and Music for further subject-specific resources.
