Instructions for Faculty Serials Review

Phase 2: Review of Tentative Cancellation Lists

Deadline for review: June 15th

Lists of the journals that are tentatively being considered for cancellation have been created based on faculty responses to the subject-specific surveys completed in May. Titles appearing on the cancellation lists are those that the survey indicated are not used by any faculty and are also not useful for students. The lists only include library subscriptions that we do not purchase through UC's California Digital Library (CDL). The online CDL titles are NOT being considered for cancellation.

INSTRUCTIONS

Please review all lists appropriate to your areas of research and teaching:

  1. Tentative cancellations are grouped in the following subject lists --

  2. For each of the specific lists you wish to review, click survey name. Mark all appropriate boxes for each title that you wish to review. You can return to the online survey as many times as needed to complete comments until you click DONE. If you would prefer a PDF version of any of the surveys, please contact Lucia Snowhill.

What if some of the journals I use aren't listed?

The only journals listed at this point in the review process are those being considered for cancellation. Depending on the interdisciplinary nature of your research, you may want to check multiple lists.

Project Timeline:
May 15 Initial faculty review of survey lists completed
June 1 Library sends faculty a *tentative* cancellation review list for comment and final review
June 15 Deadline for faculty responses to the provisional list

The Library will create a final cancellation list by June 30, for 2010 subscriptions. If enough funding is freed through cancellations, the Library may be able to consider placing some new subscriptions based on faculty recommendations.

Please contact Lucia Snowhill, Associate University Librarian for Collection Development if you have any questions.
