Making Donations to the UCSB Libraries

Supporters of the Library have greatly added to the depth of the research collections at UCSB. Named endowments support the library's programs in perpetuity and allow the donor to make an ongoing committment to the library in an area of special interst. The support of our annual donors on strengthens the collection and allows for many one time acquisitions. Donors can give unrestricted gifts of cash or securities or other assets, add to existing endowments or establish new funds in areas where the library needs ongoing support.

Named endowments established by supporters of the library to support specific collections and projects and include:

  • Stuart Bernath Memorial Fund (Diplomatic history and international studies)
  • Pearl Chase Fund (Community development and local history)
  • Mary Cheadle Fund (Special Collections)
  • Donald Davidson Fund (Special Collections)
  • Islamic Studies (Islamic materials)
  • Lotte Lehmann Fund (Lotte Lehmann Collection)
  • Library Memorial Endowment Fund (Unrestricted)
  • Library Special Endowment Fund (Unrestricted)
  • James and Mildred Monaghan Fund (Western Americana)
  • Shiers Memorial Fund (History of technology, including trade catalogs)
  • Hobart Skofield Fund (History of the book, fine and small presses)
  • William Wyles Fund (Western history, Civil War and Lincolniana)
  • Don Tosti Endowment (Special Collections-CEMA)

Financial contributions to the library are recognized by the University at the following levels by membership in the Chancellors Council:

  • $1000-2499 Contributing Members
  • $2500-4900 Sustaining Members
  • $5000-10000 Patrons
  • $10,000+ Thomas More Storke Society
  • $100,000+ Lancaster Society
